Description

Discover the Teide National Park like never before: under the starry blanket of night. This nocturnal excursion will take you to explore the beauty of Teide at dusk, when the landscape is transformed and the sky reveals 83 of the 88 known constellations.

During the ascent, you will cross different ecosystems, from rural areas and forests to high mountain scrubland, home to native plants such as broom and summit rosebush. You will also see small bats, harmless companions of the night, which live in the volcanic tunnels of the park. These tunnels are also home to unique creatures adapted to total darkness, many of them exclusive to this environment.

Teide's sky is one of the best on the planet for stargazing. The scarce light pollution of the environment gives you a clear, sharp sky dome full of mythological stories and mysteries, which you can discover in full with the help of the Starlight guides, who will be at your disposal throughout the observation. This will take place at the cable car base station, at an altitude of 2,356 metres, with professional long-range telescopes. Among volcanoes, with the colours of a natural treasure such as this wild enclave and with the nerves of being about to discover planets, galaxies, clusters and -if there is a full moon- a whole lunar geography that will make you dream.

A unique experience that combines the magic of nature and astronomy in a spectacular setting.

  • STAR GAZING - DISAPPOINTING

    POST KEVIN 329: 09/03/2023

We were disappointed with our excursion. The coach was very old and quite uncomfortable, the driver was not good with very strange use of the brakes, and there was an excessive number of pick-ups from other points making the journey very long to and from the first stop. There was not a particularly good explanation of the trip, but this must be partly the fault of our hotel concierge. On the trip itself we were told that we would be stopping to see the sunset, but perhaps a little more guidance on where to go when the coach stopped would have been helpful. On arrival at the Teide we waited again while some people ate their food provided. We had not wanted a meal so assumed on choosing this trip that we would not be stopping for food. The use of the telescopes and the explanation by your guide was good. It must be very difficult to pitch the depth of detail for this experience to satisfy everyone, so while we felt that the detail was too great for us, we fully understand that the guide needs to cover for all levels, so that is fair. We had the great opportunity to have the telescopes repositioned to see a close-up of a (nearly?) full moon, and the detail through the scope was exceptional. Seeing the other stars before this was not quite so thrilling (for us). In fact, the unpolluted night sky at the location was enjoyable without the telescopes.
